More than one place in four, free.

Because talent does not check the family purse. The Tumarys Scholars Fund pays the full cost of study for thirty of our first students: girls and young women whose ability is not in question, but for whose families even USD 600 a year is a wall. We built this fund into the Academy from the beginning, because a school that only serves those who can pay is not the school we set out to build.

For families: what a funded place is

A funded place covers everything: tuition, learning materials, and a daily meal. A scholar receives exactly what her classmates receive, and no one in the classroom can tell who is funded and who is not. That dignity is deliberate. Scholars are chosen on need and promise by a committee that includes educators independent of the Academy, so the decision is fair and seen to be fair. To be considered, simply apply to the Academy and tell us your situation on the form.

For donors: what your gift does

USD 600 funds one scholar for a full year. USD 50 funds her for a month. USD 1,800 carries a young woman through the whole flagship experience to a livelihood. Every donor receives a report twice a year, showing in numbers and in stories what their support built, and scholars are never publicly named without their consent. If you wish, a larger gift can endow a named scholarship in perpetuity, in your own name or in memory of someone you loved, so that a girl in Samarkand carries that name into her future every year.

Why give here

Because the money reaches the student. Because you will see, in plain reporting, exactly what it did. And because educating one woman changes more than one life: she lifts a family, employs her neighbours, and shows the next girl in her village that the door is open. This is among the most concentrated good a gift of this size can do.

Register your interest

We are not taking payments yet. The award policy, the committee that decides and the entity that receives the money are being settled with our accountants first, because a fund that takes money before it can say exactly how it is awarded does not deserve the money. Tell us now and we will write to you the moment it opens.

Fields marked with an asterisk are needed. The rest are optional.

Either one. Whichever you would rather we used.

Optional, and not binding. In your own words — “around USD 600”, “whatever a term costs”.

Optional.

We use what you tell us to write back to you about the Scholars Fund, and for nothing else. We do not sell it or pass it on.

Scholars Fund: your questions

How do I apply for a funded place?
Apply to the Academy as normal and describe your circumstances on the form. There is no separate scholarship application to chase.
Will other students know I am funded?
No. A funded place looks identical to any other. Protecting each scholar’s dignity is a rule we hold firmly.
As a donor, will I know who I helped?
You will receive a report twice a year on the impact of your gift. Individual scholars are identified to donors only with the scholar’s consent.
Can I fund a scholarship in someone’s name?
Yes. Larger gifts can endow a named scholarship in perpetuity. Write to us and we will arrange it.
